Our Business Activities and Key Moments

• Our Group of Companies has been involved in Life, Pensions, General Insurance (all sorts including both commercial and private) and banking.  We also have interests in restaurants and ‘deal making’ with the Quality Chop House (Farringdon Road) and the Chairman’s Biz Club. 

• August 1989 we were appointed to be the mandatory sole broker for the whole of the FIMBRA Membership. Start date of scheme was to have been 1/11/89 but decision revoked at 10.30 p.m. on 31/10/89. Despite setback, we used this momentum to create and hold approximately 25-35% of the membership.

• September 2000 the Solicitors Indemnity Fund, (a mutual which previously provided cover for all primary solicitor practices) ceases to operate, enabling solicitors to take the open market option that we have today. This subsequently gave birth to PYV Legal and St Mary Underwriting Limited.

• January 2005 Insurance Mediation Directive (IMD) brings in new rules for the PI requirement of IFAs and General Brokers. These were similar to the ones we have today, which now require these firms to carry a sterling limit equivalent of €1.68M.

• Today PYV is mainly interested in Professional Indemnity (PI) Insurance and we consider ourselves the market leader for the IFA, Mortgage Broker and Solicitor sectors.

• We also do PI for all other professions as well as Directors and Officers (D&O) liability, Office Combined and other specialist liability insurances.
