Our Predecessors and Associates

• Pointon York set up by Geoffrey Pointon and Syd York in 1971 as an IBRC Registered Life, Pensions and General Insurance brokerage – based in The Crescent, Leicester.

• 1985 we acquire Philip Vos & Partners (a Lloyd’s brokerage) to create Pointon York Vos, a new Lloyd’s brokerage based in the West End of London at Cavendish Square.

• 1990 Pointon York Vos changes name to PYV Ltd, a Lloyd’s brokerage specialising in Professional Indemnity and associated covers.

• 1993 Pointon York Insurance Brokers - all non-specialist general insurance business - sold to Jardine’s (now JLT) in Birmingham.

• 2000 Pointon York Life and Pensions sold to Thompsons (now known as AWD) leaving just the SIPP provider, which became know as Pointon York SIPP Solutions in 2002, and our bank, Pointon York Ltd, at The Crescent, Leicester.

• 2006 Pointon York Ltd sold to a Lithuanian Bank, Converse Bank, and PYSS move out to Market Harborough, Leicestershire.

• 2008 PYV create an appointed representative St Mary Underwriting Ltd, a Managing General Agent designed to act as an Insurer for the benefit of brokers.

• Today PYV are part of the Pointon Group Ltd which has been established for over 39 years and has a strong reputation built around its protection expertise.
