IFAs 'remain in demand'

Demand for independent financial advisers (IFAs) remains strong, new research shows.
Figures released by Unbiased.co.uk revealed that over 115,000 people asked for such guidance during the first three months of 2009, with this set to increase over the course of the second quarter.
Between January and March, some 31 per cent of such requests were in relation to personal retirement planning.
Meanwhile, advice on mortgages accounted for 13 per cent, with this rising to 24 per cent among investments and savings.
Neil Pointon, chief executive at specialist PI broker PYV, commented: "The credit crunch and subsequent fall in property and investment markets has necessitated the public to seek out quality advice from the IFA community."
