PI 'one of the seven steps to success'

Self-employed workers should consider professional indemnity (PI) insurance cover as one of the "seven steps" to success, it has been claimed.
PI and similar products such as public liability insurance are recommended as "a starting point" in an article on MSN Money.
Author Helen Castell explains that such policies may prove beneficial to those taking their first steps "out of your comfort zone".
She explains: "Many businesses and self-employed professionals these days need to be able to show that they have insurance.
"Clients often won't use services which aren't insured."
Ms Castell adds that PI is typically sought out by those whose business involves providing advice to their clients.
She points out that the product provides protection against costs incurred when defending a claim of negligence.
MSN Money previously reported that PI had been ranked by Decision Finance alongside Office and Contents insurance as one of the five "essential" policies which should be obtained by businesses.
